slides: Tour of 29 of the Top Wine Producers in Oregon

Saturday, December 06, 2014

Portland's penchant for microbrews is no secret - see our recent article about Oregon being ranked the booziest state in America. However, we're no slacker when it comes to wine.

The state of Oregon is the third largest producer of wine, right behind California and Washington. The Dundee Hills and surrounding area, located about an hour's drive south of Portland, are known for producing globally renowned Pinot Noirs on par to anything produced in Napa Valley or Burgandy, France. The mineral-rich soil and climate of the Wilamette Valley combine to create an ideal environment for growing Pinot Noir grapes.

This Saturday, Dundee will be playing host to the "Deck the Hills" Wine Tasting, Holiday Market and Case Sale on the premises of Argyle Winery. More than 20 of Oregon's top producers will be pouring samples of their wine and offering a 20% discount of all mixed 6 and 12-bottle cases. Participants can also sample food from some of Dundee's favorite restaurants and bid on artisan "barrel art" at the holiday market auction benefiting ¡Salud, the organization providing healthcare services to Oregon's vineyard workers and their families.

So take some time this weekend to enjoy a mini-vacation in Dundee sampling some of the best-tasting wine Oregon has to offer.

Argyle Winery, 691 Highway 99W in downtown Dundee, Saturday Dec. 6, 4-7 pm, $10 admission.
