Tender Loving Empire Unveils Second Location with Grand Opening Party
Wednesday, November 26, 2014
Kemea Smith, GoLocalPDX Contributor
Jared and Brianne Mees founders of Tender Loving Empire (TLE), have been a driving creative force in Portland’s art and music scene since opening TLE eight years ago. The TLE record label has released over 50 albums for local musicians like experimental dream pop band Radiation City, folk band Y La Bamba, and electronic Boy Eats Drum Machine. The store has survived the recession and showcased unique handmade art and jewelry for Portlanders to buy.
With the amazing support from the Portland community, Tender Loving Empire has finally opened a new brick and mortar in the eclectic Hawthorne District.
They have teamed up with Fieldwork Design, and Cabin to make a new store concept and visual representation and also developed their own tees, prints and accessories that will be available in both stores, online, and in select stores nationwide.
TLE is also launching a new pay-what-you want based website developed by their sister company Generous and Knicknack. The website will give back to non-profits or charities with each purchase.
Come out to the grand opening party and enjoy a nice beer from Fort George Brewery, food cart snacks, and live music by Portland’s Y La Bamba frontwoman Luz Elena Mendoza and singer/songwriter Colyn Cameron of Wake Owl ( just to name a few) as they sing songs from the new Christmas compilation, PDXMAS.
Also stick around for giveaways of LPs of Typhoon, Y La Bamba, Radiation City entire catalog, $200 gift certificate to Tender Loving Empire, and jewelry from Chapter and Whiskey and Wine.
The grand opening party is free and will be held at the new Tender Loving Empire, 3541 SE Hawthorne, December 4, from 6 pm- 10 pm. For more information click here.
