Portland Opera hosted an anniversary gala on Saturday, June 20, celebrating 50 years of great opera productions and 20 years of presenting Broadway musicals.
The "gala of all galas" as some called it that night was held at the opera's homebase, the Hampton Opera Center on the banks of the Willamette River, and, at early count, it looks like it raised in the vicinity of a million dollars for the arts organization.

The "Midsummer Night's Dream"-themed gala featured entertainment by Portland Opera soloists Jennifer Forni, Ryan MacPherson and Hannah Penn, Alexander Elliott and Katrina Galka, members of BodyVox dance company and special guest Thomas Lauderdale and China Forbes. The one-and-only Poison Waters emceed the event and Johnna Wells was an incredible auctioneer. Following Larry Grimes and his crew from Art of Catering delicious dinner and the Wells-led auction, the Aubrey N. Morgan Award was given to Mary Chomenko Hinckley and Gregory Hinckley.
The guest list was a who's who of Portland polticos and arts leaders including Gov. Kate Brown, First Lady Nancy Hales, Rep. Margaret Doherty, City Commissioner Nick Fish, Ronna Hoffman, Susanne Orton, and Event Chair Carole Morse.
Beginning at 9 pm, the after party concluded the incredible evening with drinks, dessert and entertainment provided by local disc jockey, DJ Gregarious.
