Party Report: LGBTQ Fundraiser for John Kitzhaber
Wednesday, October 01, 2014
The event was an LGBTQ reception in support of Kitzhaber’s re-election campaign.
Kitzhaber is considered a strong advocate for LGBTQ equality and has appointed more out-LGBTQ Oregonians to leadership positions than any other governor in Oregon history.

During the reception, Kitzhaber mentioned that, if he were to be re-elected, his term would end 40 years after the death of Robert F. Kennedy. Kitzhaber considers Bobby Kennedy one of his political heroes and a driving force for his involvement in public life.
On the subject of Ferguson, Kitzhaber became emotional, almost on the verge of tears, relating that the issues that were present when Kennedy were still alive are still with us today.
Attendess included former governor Barbara Roberts, former Portland mayor Sam Adams, Bill Dickey, Jeana Frazzini, Gwenn Baldwin, Angelo Turner, Bob Speltz, Terry Bean, Misha Isaak, Brian Wilson, Kendall Clawson and Carole Smith.
