The Sixth Annual Human Rights Campaign Portland Gala was held on the spacious grounds of Lewis and Clark College on Saturday evening.

The stars weren’t as bright above in the night sky (a few raindrops provided a respite from our endlessly sunny summer) and there were definitely not as many stars at the gala as in previous years that attracted the likes of Dustin Lance Black, Rebecca Romijn, Jerry O’Connell, Noah Wyle, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein as well as several politicos. But it was  still a grand affair. The theme of this year's gala was "United." It expresses the belief that we are stronger working together for the greater social change we see in front of us.

To that point “Queer As Folk’s” amazing Michelle Renee Clunie, who grew up in Portland, spoke eloquently about the need to continue to fight for full lgbt rights across Oregon and the rest of the country. Other attendees included Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, State Representative Rob Nosse  and Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian.

The Annual Portland Gala/garden party served locally-sourced gourmet food and featured Oregon wines and micro-distillery products. And comedian Dana Goldberg entertained the crowd as well as was the auctioneer for a small live auction that followed dinner.
