Mother & Child Education Center Hosts Charity Dinner for Mother’s Day

For the last five years, students have volunteered at Mother & Child Education Center on a regular basis to teach during healthcare workshops and help during fundraises and other events.
Joining together, Mother & Child Education Center and Concorde Career College celebrate and educate the community for Mother’s Day this Saturday, May 9th.
On Saturday, the Mother & Child Education Center will host a charity dinner auction to help raise support. This is one of the center’s largest fundraising events of the year.
Mother & Child Education Center is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit that receives no government funding yet continues to offer free services to support mothers, fathers, and children within the community.
The center supports families by providing pregnancy tests, counseling, supplies, and parenting classes and has been serving the Portland metro since 1971.
Meanwhile since 2010, students from Concorde Career College have volunteered at Mother & Child Education Center on a regular basis to lead healthcare workshops and help during fundraises and other events.
“Thanks to our partnership with Concorde Career College, our clients are able to get quality care from nursing students committed to the well-being of expectant mothers and their children. We help mothers gain access to the knowledge, supplies and classes they need to become confident, competent mothers,” said Maura White from Mother & Child Education Center

Zoo Brunch
This Mother’s Day, the Oregon Zoo hosts its annual Mother’s Day brunch at the Cascade Crest banquet center. The brunch includes a buffet for all ages and is followed by a tour of the zoo’s favorite families, including the African lioness, Kya, and her three 8 month old cubs.
