Canisius College, Buffalo, NY
- The bioinformatics major at Canisius is fully compatible with the college’s pre-medical curriculum, and one hundred percent of recent bioinformatics graduates have been accepted to medical school.

- Each student completes a senior undergraduate capston project. - Students participate in the Genome Analysis Workshop, part of a collaboration between the Join Genome Institute and colleges nationwide to annotate microbial genomes that provide data to public databases.

- The Bachelor of Science in bioinformatics degree program combines biology, chemistry, biochemistry, computer science, mathematics, statistics, bioethics, and specialized bioinformatics classes that prepares students for graduate school or a career in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
- The Genomics Institute and the Center for Biomolecular Science and Engineering at UCSC are two of the many resources on campus for bioinformatics students to conduct research with faculty.

Wheaton College, Norton, MA
- Bioinformatics majors at Wheaton complete core requirements and also take required classes such as “Robots, Games, and Problem Solving” and “Molecular Biology and Genomics”, may choose electives such as “Artificial Intelligence” and “Evolution” before choosing a capstone project in the major.
- The Genomics Group is an interdisciplinary research team of students and faculty studying the DNA of various microbial organisms.
