Where does Oregon fall on the list? No. 6.
Some Oregonians won't be too happy to know that both our West Coast neighbors ranked higher on the list - California at No. 2 and Washington at No. 3.
Which state earned the No. 1 spot?
New York, of course: The average New Yorker takes over double the amount of daily steps as the average American.

Walking is a practical form of daily exercise that provides myriad health benefits, including weight loss and a lower risk of heart disease and diabetes, according to the study. Based on data released by Withings fitness products, there's a significant correlation between average daily steps and average weight, the report says.
In states that ranked in the top five for walking, the average man weighs 7.5 pounds less than those in states ranked 10 through 15. There's a seven-pound difference for women.
The average number of daily steps for an Oregonian is 4,818, and 4.10 percent of adults walk to work. The average weight of men in Oregon is 205.5 pounds, and 157.4 pounds for women.
Oregonians, we've logged more average daily steps than 44 other states, so get out and keep walking.
