Portland is the Number One “Most Organic” City in the U.S.

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

Portland is more obsessed with organic food than any other city in the U.S., according to a new study by Campbell Soup Company and Sperling's Best Places

The study analyzed the most organic-eating cities in America based on both old and new research about nationwide consumer trends.  Some of the data was taken from Sperling's online poll, which yielded thousands of responses, as well as from Yelp search results.

While it's unsurprising that Portlanders are obsessed with organic food, a 2014 Gallup study found that 45 percent of Americans actively seek out organic foods. The Gallup study also found that West Coasters are more likely to incorporate organic foods into their diets.

Portland's coastal cousins San Francisco and Seattle also ranked among the top 10 most organic food obsessed cities; San Fransisco following Portland at number two, and Seattle at number seven.
