Ruby Jewel To Hold Grand Opening At New Location

Popular local ice cream company, Ruby Jewel, will be opening a third location this weekend in the SE Hawthorne/Mt. Tabor neighborhood.

On August 29th, Ruby Jewel will host a Grand Opening at their new location on 4703 SE Hawthorne, with live music provided by Mo Phillips from 2 - 4 PM. A portion of the sales on opening day will go to benefit Raphael House.

The new shop is located in a 955-square foot retail space and was designed by LRS Architects.

“We are thrilled to join other locally owned businesses in the Mount Tabor and Hawthorne neighborhoods,” said Lisa Herlinger, company founder. “Ruby Jewel has always been an extension of the neighborhood wherever we land and we look forward to creating new memories for all the families and neighbors who discover one of our Scoop Shops.”

Herlinger has a long history of partnering with the region's farmers and food producers, including Lochmead Dairy, Viridian Farms, Glory Bee Honey and Portland Creamery. “We always look for real, honest ingredients to use in our ice cream... Our curiosity for imaginative flavor combinations and collaborations never seems to be satisfied.”

The new shop opens just in time to feature eight new flavors, to be featured as seasonal September specials. The SE Hawthorne location will be opened daily from noon to 11 PM starting Saturday, August 29th.

Challenge: One 72-ounce medium rare top sirloin steak must be consumed with all the trimmings: 2 pieces each of celery, carrots, olives, dill pickles, one regular salad, ten french fries or one baked potato and one slice of bread.
