Oregon Officials and Businesses Give Support For Pro-Solar Legislation

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Four bills are currently pending in the state legislature that would prompt solar growth in Oregon.

Environment Oregon released a letter signed by over 100 businesses and 40 local elected officials across Oregon in favor of pro-solar legislation in Salem.

Environment Oregon announced the letter today at a press conference on the sustainable “green-roof” of solar company SolTerra Systems

Four bills are currently pending in the state legislature that would prompt solar growth in Oregon, developing 10-times more solar energy in the state by 2025: the equivalent of 250,000 solar rooftops, or solar panels on every household in Portland.

Speakers emphasized the wide variety of economic benefits of solar energy, from preventing layoffs during the recession, powering a community clinic that serves low-income communities, and creating good-paying, local jobs across Oregon.

Oregon supporters of solar energy will travel to Salem for a citizen lobby day to meet with state officials about the legislation.
