Alpha Media, with headquarters here in Portland, has just announced the purchase of 36 radio stations formerly owned by
Morris Communications.
Alpha Media is a Portland company founded as Alpha Broadcasting in 2009. Alpha Broadcasting initially acquired six Portland radio stations when the company was formed.
In 2014, they merged with L&L Broadcasting and Alpha Media was the result. They initially kept the six original Portland stations, but the ownership eventually explanded to include 135 radio stations in 28 markets.
On September 2nd, Alpha Media announced the purchase of stations from Morris Communications, which included 36 stations in Kansas, California, Texas, Alaska, and Washington. The Morris purchase brings the total stations owned by Alpha to 252 station in 54 different markets.
