FashionNXT Recap: Project Runway Showcase

Seth Aaron
Seth Aaron, winner of ‘Project Runway All Stars’ (season 3), came out before his collection, asking the audience what they thought pretty was. Awkward, but thankfully it was over soon enough and the show got on with why we were all there: fashion.
The first look, a fresh, white cut-out shoulder, long-sleeved blouse with wide leg pants, came down the runway and set the tone for the collection. Think white boxy lab-worker uniforms combined with oval-shaped back cutouts and black heels. An all-white collection was the first surprise of the night.
Lenzanita
Then there was Anita Kealey’s sustainable Lenzanita collection. The collection featured some models sporting silver, gold and black arrows, circles and lines along their face. The collection had elements of tribal patterns and toned-down colors like matte tan. Crowd favorites included a snakeskin-patterned collared shirt dress with a black fringe overlay from the waist down.
Goga by Gordana
Models came down the runway with smokey eye makeup and wearing flowy dresses and lingerie for the collection of ‘Project Runway’ alum Gordana. Some memorable dresses include a deep v-neckline emerald-green dress with shimmery black lace, and a long black dress with a variation of puff sleeves.
After the first segment of Gordana’s collection, the lights inside the tent suddenly turned blue, and thick mist swarmed the runway. Models came out onto the runway after a couple of minutes, wearing a variety of black and white lingerie with delicate lace trim. Sexy and feminine. Thumbs up.
Irina Shabayeva
Project Runway season 6 winner Irina Shabayeva’s collection was the obvious crowd favorite. The first look, a nude-colored, low-waist dress with white lace and an enormous droopy white hat immediately gained the attention of every person in the tent. The wide-brimmed hats made an appearance with several of the looks throughout the collection. The tailored beige coat dress with black tulle lace, and a leather tie waist, looked like something you might wear to make a dramatic entrance to a funeral. Some in the crowd seemed prepared to die for it themselves, in fact.
Michelle Lesniak
Season 11 winner Michelle Lesniak ended the third night of FashionNXT with a Great Depression-era inspired collection. A local violinist provided western farm music as the models walked down the runway wearing baggy creme sweaters, denim dress overalls with side pockets, and tight plaid hats. A floor-length black dress with strategically placed slits around bust, midsection, and along the legs, ended the collection. Elegant with edge.
