This weekend offers fashion fans a chance to meet local designers, score great deals on jewelry and clothing, and empower girls to be bold. GoLocalPDX has chosen fashion events for the philanthropist, art enthusiast and shopping addict. Take your pick! 

Twist In-Store Sale

The 26th Annual In-Store Twist sale (the only sale of the year) begins this Friday with thousand’s of designer pieces on sale. Expect 50%- 75% off earthy, enchanting modern pieces from London designer Pippa Small, New York designer Pamela Love, and California designer Andrea Fohrman (to name a few). 

Twist will also be launching a social media contest for customers to share photos of their gorgeous treasures from the sale on Instagram and/or Twitter. Winners will receive $200 Twist gift cards given away Friday March 6th, Saturday March 7th, and Sunday March 8th.

Union Rose "Spring Cleaning Sale"

Union Rose is having there yearly "Spring Cleaning Sale" at their Montavilla Neighborhood shop. Score sample and past season dresses under $100 and separates under $50 in XS- 3X sizes. Brands include Varnish, Copper Union, Bridge Nine Candles, and others.

Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest Power of the Purse Dinner and Auction

Non-Profit Organization Girls Inc., is celebrating their 10th Annual Power of the Purse event. The event has raised over a million dollars and brings awareness about the importance of economic independence for women. 

Each year community leaders artists, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists (aka Purse-o-nalities) are invited to create a unique handbags to be auctioned off at the Power of the Purse dinner. 

The Purse-o-nalities are also matched with a Girls Council girl, providing the girls with leadership skills, career information, and best of all friendship. The 2015 Purse-o-nalities include musical group The von Trapps, Vanessa Garcia-Brito of Nike Foundation, and author of Adulting, Kelly Williams Brown.

Portland Art Museum Object Stories  

The Portland Art Museum continues to hosts some exciting events and programs for the beautiful exhibition Italian Style: Fashion Since 1945 (on view through May 3). Check out the Object Stories gallery to chat with the designers of fashion collaboration brand, Veil and Valor. The two recently showed a Frida Kahlo inspired collection of floral crowns, and animal patterned dresses at Fade to Light 2015.
