Portland Tango Festival Twirls Into Town

On Thursday, October 8th, the Portland Tango Festival comes to town offering live music, lessons, and a chance to get extra close to that special someone in your life. In addition to the regularly scheduled activities, there will be a screening of the film Fermín Glorias Del Tango and an hour-long lecture about tango lyrics entitled “Every Time You Remember Me: Contours & Gricel.” Both of these events can be enjoyed for free.

Of course, the most anticipated aspect of the festival is the actual dancing. This year, the festival has put together a package especially for beginners called “Bite Size Tango.” With this package, you and a partner will enjoy a one-hour tango class, a social hour, the grand ball, and the opportunity to view a performance by professional Argentine tango instructors. The live music during this time will be provided by the Alejandro Ziegler Quartet.

Another thing that is new this year at the festival is the Sunday Gala & Dinner Show

This event will be a time for socializing and for tasting the delectable cuisine provided by Vibrant Table. This lovely evening will also feature live music by Portland’s tango singer, Megan Yvonne and her quintet Pérola.

The Portland Tango Festival offers something fun for everyone regardless of skill level. So if you are looking for a reason to get up and groove this weekend, please click here to purchase tickets and look no further.

Portland Tango Festival, Opens at Milonga, Norse Main Ballroom, 111 NE 11th Ave. Thursday, October 8th, through Monday, October 12th.
