Portland Center Stage (PCS) recently announced the lineup for their 2015 JAW: A Playwrights Festival.

Each year since 1999, JAW (Just Add Water) has helped bring fresh talent to the public. During the festival, four playwrights are chosen out of 200 submissions nationwide. Some of the plays that were featured have even gone on to receive world premiere productions.

Once again, the reading committee for JAW has chosen four promising playwrights to feature this year.

Out of over 200 submissions, the scripts chosen for staged readings are Boo Killebrew’s Miller, Mississippi, James Pressson’s Long Division, Jen Silverman’s Wink and Adam Szymkowicz’s Colchester

The playwrights will spend two weeks in Portland prior to the festival in order to develop the scripts with actors, directors, and crew members. The public will be welcome to see the result of all this hard work during the free staged readings presented on July 24th and 25th at 4:00pm and 8:00pm.

Lastly, there will also be a kick off event on Thursday, July 23rd at 8:30pm. At this event, the work of six promising playwrights from local high schools will be featured during staged readings.

JAW, Portland Center Stage, 128 NW Eleventh Ave., (503) 445- 3700. Friday and Saturday, July 24th and 25th, 4pm and 8pm.
