Oregon Symphony to Play Star Trek Score Live at Screening

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

Live Star Trek performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The Oregon Symphony and Pacific Youth Choir will perform Michael Giacchino's 2009 Star Trek score live at a screening of the movie at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on Friday.

Composer Michael Giacchino sometimes makes appearances at the Star Trek concerts, including one at the Royal Albert Hall in London. There is a good chance that Mr. Giacchino will be here in Portland for the Oregon Symphony's concert.

In addition to his 2009 Star Trek score, Michael Giacchino stands out as the first composer to write a live score for a video game, Jurrasic Park: The Lost World. The score for his video game series, 'Medal of Honor,' has earned him many accolades. The scores for Star Trek and Star Trek into Darkness have become his signature works.

Portland's more enthusiastic Trekkies will be in character from a Star Trek cotume contest that will be held before the concert.

Star Trek with the Oregon Symphony will be held at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Friday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets click HERE
