Fulfilling the dreams of quirky Portlanders, the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival returns for its 20th year in a row.

The festival is a short and feature-length film extravaganza that pays tribute to H.P. Lovecraft, a posthumously celebrated, American author of horror stories.

Lovecraft is known for his dark and fantastical style, and his tale “The Call of Cthulhu,” helped define the genre of horror/gothic fiction in the twentieth century.

This year, the festival will feature over 50 short films, 6 feature-length films, panel discussions, and special guest Jeffrey Combs.

Known for his dry humor and his performance in the horror classic film “Re-Animator,” Combs was also a guest during the first H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival. That said, he will receive a very warm “welcome back” from Portland’s Lovecraft fans.

Lovecraft fans will also enjoy the film “Tesla vs Cthulhu: The Nightmare of Desolation Sound,” which will make its world premier as it depicts the experience of survivors of an ill-fated expedition in British Columbia.

See below for a list of some of the other highlights we’re looking forward to at 2015’s H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival.
