Design Museum Portland Announces Two Events

Saturday, November 07, 2015

Design Museum Portland will hold a pair of events in the coming weeks focusing on the business side of creativity and how to recycle paper into works of art.

On November 11, the museum will host a panel entitled UNITE on Creative Entrepreneurship, discussing how to bring creative entrepreneurs out of the studio and into a thriving economy. The panel will include JD Hooge, partner and chief creative officer of Instrument, Sara Tunstall, co-owner of Spooltown and Ian Collins, creative director at Simple.

Guests will be treated to an exchange of thoughts and ideas, along with education about the business side of being creative. Beer will be available from sponsor Gigantic Brewing.

On December 1, the museum will host a field trip for its Director’s Circle, Patron and Advocate level members to Pulp and Deckle paper-making studio for a hands-on experience in paper-making.

Guests will get a behind-the-scenes look at making paper out of peer and at the process of recycling an up-cycling paper into works of art. Jennifer Woodard and Gary Hanson, the husband a wife team who create artisanal handmade papers and teach workshops at Pulp and Deckle in St. Johns, will lead the tour.

For more information on either event or to learn more about the Design Museum Portland and how to become a member, visit the Design Museum Portland website.
